ROXi - User Interface Design

The ROXi UI was was designed to stream music through a TV viaWiFi connected dongle. The dongle eventually became a set top box with a bluetooth microphone point and click remote. The UI was graphically rich, somewhat idiosyncratic and quite fiddly to use. However, it was a strong extension of the brand and was difficult to confuse with other screen products.

UI 1.2

A version of ROXi was developed as a smart TV app which meant it would be controlled using the D Pad on the TV Remote. The interface was redesigned and user tested and a more conventional layout was found be preferred by customers.

Brand Update

ROXi Logo 001

The old ROXi logo had been around for a while before I joined the company and nobody could remember what the round part of the logo meant.

ROXi Logo 002

We dispensed with the round style logo and used the shape of the set top box for the graphic element. The compound curves make for an interesting shape and had some meaning for the brand. The star was added as it grabs attention and as we were developing the smart TV version we thought it would help make ROXi stand out in crowded app stores.

A brand guide was created to accompany the redesign.
